Li Jiao, a Chinese college student, claimed she was the granddaughter of a gangster boss who could make anyone “disappear”.

She was so convincing in her story that her five roommates obeyed her every order - for two years. They gave her £800 ($1485) for slimming aids and cosmetic surgery because she demanded it.

Qing Qing, one of the roommates, was ordered to gain 15kg (33lbs) in weight in just one month. She failed in that task and was banned from washing her face for three months.

Li Jiao ordered the other four to put on weight also and demanded more money for not selling them all into prostitution.

When Qing Qing finally moved out, her family called police after finding out what happened. Li Jiao has been arrested and charged with blackmail. Her defense is - it was all just for fun.
